Wildlife caught … on camera!
Remote cameras are an important tool for CNLM Preserve Managers to monitor wildlife at our Preserves. The Prichard Lake Preserve provides perfect habitat, and many tasty crawdads, for many species, such as this family of North American River Otter (Lontra canadensis) with their pups (above), and and a family of Raccoons (Procyon lotor) with their kits (3 kits in the water on the right).
These cameras also assist managers in recording more secretive species of the wetlands such as the American Mink (Neovison vison) which use the cover of the tules to hunt for prey.
